Darrell Spence

Image of Darrell SpenceDarrell Spence is the owner, operator, and guide of Allegany Expeditions, Inc. Darrell’s background has developed from a military family that traveled the globe with exposure to tent camping and fire cooking at an early age. Darrell’s passion for the outdoor adventure has challenged him in many ways: backpacking, climbing, rappelling, canoeing, kayaking, caving, fly fishing, and cross country skiing. Darrell’s formal training as a biologist led him into environmental public health for thirteen years. Allegany Expeditions, a company that began as a college paper, has now been in business for over 15 years. Darrell has multiple outdoor certifications that range from rock-climbing and rappelling to canoeing and Leave-No-Trace ethics and professional ski instruction.

Bruce A. Liller

Bruce A. Liller, M.S., L.C.P.C. is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 25 years experience in the field of mental health helping persons of all ages adopt a balanced approach to life. Bruce believes through integration of mind, body, and spirit, one can tap into a level or awareness that can result in more satisfying relationships, higher productivity, and a less stressful lifestyle. “Everything has meaning, yet how we explain and perceive our experiences is essential.”

As a lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Bruce utilizes nature as a medium to offer a multitude of opportunity for self- exploration. This love of the outdoors led Bruce to play a significant role in the concept of Allegany Expeditions in 1989 and his affiliation with AEI continues today as a PSIA certified Nordic Skiing instructor, Leave-No-Trace outdoor ethics educator and guide.

Amy Owens

Amy Owens has been an outdoor enthusiast for over 30 years. She is an avid cyclist with extensive experience in long distance cycle touring in both the United States and Europe. Amy has also been a caving enthusiast for 25 years and loves camping, hiking, skiing, nature photography and outdoor adventure. Amy worked in the corporate world for twenty years before leaving to attain her lifelong dream to complete a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. She is now a board eligible certified counselor. Amy believes that nature speaks to each of us in a deep and personal way and provides the perfect opportunity to renew our spirits and reconnect with each other and ourselves.

Lori Spence

Lori Spence has 15 years experience as a long distance cyclist, caver, cross-country skier and business administrator for Allegany Expeditions. Lori has both undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration. Lori’s 23 years of work experience include management in banking, investment counseling, and real estate. Lori currently serves as assistant to the president of Allegany College of Maryland with job responsibilities that include directing employee wellness programs. Lori’s loving spirit and desires to connect with others is her driving force in life. One of Lori’s core beliefs is that life’s greatest joys comes from listening and learning more about others so as to create connections that explain who we are and who we can become.
